A huge congratulations to our incredible team of runners who took part in the Surrey Half Marathon on Sunday, 22nd March, raising an amazing £6,670 for Home-Start Surrey Heath.
The day began in truly freezing conditions, with temperatures around 0°C as runners gathered on the start line early in the morning. Fortunately, the weather transformed as the race went on, and by the time the final runners crossed the finish line at around 1pm, the sunshine had come out and it felt almost like spring had finally arrived.
This year we were proud to have nine fantastic runners taking part — friends and family of our volunteers, staff and trustees — alongside two parents currently being supported by Home-Start Surrey Heath. Seeing members of our community run not only for the charity, but as part of the Home-Start family itself, made the day even more special.
A slight change to the route this year meant the course proved a little tougher than expected, with runners navigating the rolling countryside around Woking and surrounding villages. Despite the added challenge, our team rose to the occasion brilliantly.
We are incredibly proud and grateful to:
Amanda, Anna, Ash, Daisy, Ellie, Lucy, Patrick, Quinn and Yana,
who each completed the 21.1km (13.1 mile) course, with all runners finishing under three hours!

“I am in awe of these incredible people who gave their time and energy to raise funds for our charity and for completing such an incredible challenge. Their determination, generosity and community spirit is truly inspiring. The funds raised will make a real difference to local families who need support during some of the most difficult times in their lives.”
We would also like to extend our thanks to Hemsley Fraser, who generously supported the event.
Together our incredible runners raised an astonishing £6,670 (after JustGiving processing fees) — funds that will help Home-Start Surrey Heath continue supporting families with young children across the borough.
To every runner, donor and supporter who made this possible — thank you. We are so grateful and inspired by our fantastic team.
