Family Group Support

Family Groups

Home-Start Surrey Heath offers a variety of free, supportive groups for families with young children, aiming to reduce isolation, boost confidence, and promote child development.

Through our groups, families receive guidance and encouragement from trained volunteers and staff, helping them navigate parenting challenges.  Parents can build friendships, share experiences, and reduce feelings of isolation.  Our structured activities promote children’s speech, social skills, and physical development.  Parents gain confidence in their parenting abilities and feel more empowered.  Guest speakers and professionals provide valuable information on child health and development.

We currently have 4 groups running:

Best Start in Life Group

This friendly group is designed for parents and their young children. It provides a structured morning of play and learning, with activities that support speech, social skills, and physical development.  Children can have fun, play and make new friends.  The group promotes both parent and child’s health and wellbeing.  Guest speakers, such as Early Years Practitioners and child development specialists, are regularly invited to offer additional guidance.

What the parent’s said

“Being able to come to groups like this is really important for both parents and children.  It helps with not feeling isolated.  Its nice to have someone to talk to about any worries.  Staff and helpers are always welcoming which makes this such a nice group to come to”.
“Home-Start are so friendly & supportive. They have opened up channels to other help/organisations & have also enabled us to build a very special group of mummy friends, with who we meet up socially outside of Home-Start”
“The group has been amazing. Sam and Chris made me feel so welcome from the very beginning.   The group has gotten me out of the house on days when I really needed to and I always feel brighter at the end. It has given me opportunities to discuss ‘mum’ topics like sleeping and weaning in a relaxed environment and given me a support network when I’ve been finding it hard. The group has enabled me to make friendships and my son to have opportunities to interact with other babies his age helping his development.  It really is such a happy part of our week”.
“The group has far exceeded my expectations! So far, the group has helped me to build up the confidence to go out with my baby on my own. This was my first activity of going out with my baby and this has helped me go one and do other groups and go out on my own”.
“Wouldn’t be without this playgroup on a Tuesday morning, it’s been a great help & support for both of us”.
