Trustee Board

Our Board of Trustees

Home-Start Surrey Heath is an independent charity with our trustees coming from a wide range of backgrounds, bringing a variety of skills and experience, to ensure that we provide families with the support they need.  They are responsible for ensuring the effective management and administration of the charity and have a wide range of roles but are primarily responsible for making the charity effective, providing overall direction and maintaining sound management of funds.

Dr Andrew Mint - Chair

Andrew has been a trustee for us for over a couple of year s now, and has spent 4 years as a charity CEO in the STEM sector.  He currently works as a Senior Global Director in the chemical industry, having spent over 30 years in areas such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food. He has been heavily involved in strategy, innovation and scientific research, and hopes to use some of these skills to make our wonderful charity even better.  He is originally from The Midlands, but has been in Surrey/Hampshire for over 25 years now.  He has 4 children aged 18, 22,23 and 24.

Christine Foster

Christine is a retired teacher who worked for over twenty years in a local junior school.  With two daughters and five grandchildren she felt that Home Start would be an opportunity to use her skills and expertise supporting this very worthy charity.  Christine has been with Home-Start Surrey Heath for over 13 years and was a home-visiting volunteer initially, having supported over 20 families with 1:1 support.  She has been a trustee for five years, a very active member of our fundraising committee and enjoys being a volunteer helper at our weekly Pram Walk and Talk and our Best Start in Life group.

Anne Reynolds

Anne joined Home-Start Surrey Heath in 2018, initially as a home-visiting volunteer.  Thereafter she became chair of our fundraising committee and a member of the board in March 2022.  Anne is retired, having been a teacher for over 30 years and her daughter Emma, who is also a teacher, has also been very actively involved with our fundraising committee.  Anne and the team of volunteers have organised some fantastic events for us over the past few years, raising essential significant funds for us.

Zara Martin

Zara Martin joined our Board as a co-opted Trustee in February 2024.  With extensive NHS and private sector experience she brings a unique perspective to the Board.  As a mum herself, she understands how effective Home-Start work can be for parents who need that support and is passionate that other parents experience the same support she did.

Julian Hamilton

Julian joined as Trustee and Treasurer in July 2024.  Originally from Manchester, he grew up in Lancaster and he has lived in Surrey Heath since 2000 with his wife and two grown up children.

Now semi-retired after a long career in Technology, Business Consulting and Procurement Management he has much experience in money management as well as a family background in healthcare, with both his parents, grandfather and one of his sisters being doctors.

Jon joined Home-Start Surrey Heath as a trustee in July 2024, having previously served in a variety of roles in the voluntary sector in community sports clubs. He works as an Operational Leader in scientific research, and previously as a Global Product Director in chemical manufacture, and brings experience of taking long term strategic ideas and turning them into operational activity which will help Home-Start Surrey Heath in realising our vision for the future.

Outside of work, Jon is married with two children aged 18 and 20, and has lived in Surrey for the last 30 years.
